These gentle giants can be traced back as far as 3000 B.C. Egypt from the drawings found on monuments showing the Mastiff.
In 55 B.C. while invading Briton, Caesar was so impressed with the dogs strength and fighting ability he took some back with him to Rome. Unfortunately while in Rome the dogs were used to fight lions, bait bulls and fight with gladiators.
The British however used these loyal, courageous, and gentle dogs for keeping there flocks and herds safe, and for protecting the home and families they loved.
